MOVIE NIGHT! Everyone Says I Love You

Woody Allen is the type of director loved in Paris.
In general, his movies are about people asking too many questions and being miserable.
My being french allows me to say such a thing and it is said in "Love and Other Disasters" all the same: "nobody goes at the movies for real life, except maybe the french."
This movie is actually happy and fun. The main warning I have to give you is that this is a musical.
A crowd of famous (or soon to be famous) actors see their stories interwind and build up together.
They all have to sing their piece including Woody Allen himselfwho gives quite the interpretation of "I'm through with love".
If you know a little about Woody Allen, you are probably aware of the fact that he plays the clarinette and that he is a jazz aficionado.
One of his trade mark, in many of his movies, is the white small fonts onto a black background for his credits with some jazz music playing.
There is nothing surprising, then, for his musical to be a jazz one. I particularly enjoy the character of the grand father of the family. He has the oddest and maybe funniest of personalities.

FASHION: Soft and Dusky

Autumn is coming.
And it means back to classics and cosy clothes.
Women's Secrets is a brand of underwear and home wear for a "discret and muffled" trend.
Here are a few dusky pink pieces just like little pink sugars for your wardrobe.
I am always a little self conscious about putting underwear in my selections but I feel like it is truly part of our clothing habits, us ladies, and it is also nice to see what is out there.

I am particularly fan of their disney characters lines as they very often use drawing or first drafts of them onto their collections which, contrary, to more bold prints make of the garments something more subtle and feminine.

BEAUTY: Beautiful Legs

Main issue for most women: Legs versus summer.

You have several ways to do.
Tanning is the obvious summer answer to it. The problem you may encounter is that the sun can be relunctant to show itself.Than you also have to take in consideration self tanning (non orange) options which can be tricky to find.

One last minute option is glittering up. When it is nice outside, it is easy to find tinted and shimmery moisturizer. It won't make you really tan looking and it might get trickier to wear white garments, but it is efficient. What you see when you first apply it often ends up being what you get in the long run.
However, with any product, just like with make up, there are many elements which can get oxydised by being in contact with your skin for a certain amount of time.

So another easy tip to follow for beautiful legs on a day out (not for the beach though), you can powder you legs with a chea bronzer or terracotta. Go easy on it, you don't want two carottes as legs. But it will hide the small flaws, veins and stretch marks you would want to cover up.

Watch out though! When you apply glitters onto your legs, keep in mind that rather than making them look perfect, it will catch the light and attention of people.

When you grew up in France, you know about historical dramas at the movies.
At least from my parents to my own youth, it was what all the fuss was about. Some great french actor of the 60's almost always had to participate in those and as soon as it was about kings and queens, the crowd was pleased.
Ridicule, however, takes over a very well known gendre but decides to go with another perspective.
The story is a tale about society and the ways at the time rather then an entertaining no brainer. I am not saying it is an artsy movie which could only please a certain type of person but that it makes you reflect onto how hard and vicious people had to be with one another and out of any type of rumors to stay close to power and the king.
The texts are of a rare quality and, though the subject is anything but amusing, the film is field with very smart little things and humor.

FOOD in Paris: The Cork and Cavan

The best brunch, the best location, some good nights.
This pub on the Canal Saint Martin is very nice.
There is now a fair amount of pub brunchs to pick from in my "food In Paris" selection.
However, I really do feel this one does benefit of its location.
On a late sunday morning, you will be happy to roam round the Canal Saint- Martin whether you are coming from around the Gare Du Nord or the Bastille.

The choice of restaurants, pubs and bistrots proposing a sort of brunch or lunch but do keep in mind that if what you are looking for is a good full english breakfast with beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted potatoes, pudding and egg.

BLOG: Friend

This is for you, my friend,
From yesterday and today
It takes a while, my friend,
I look around sometimes
But there you are
Like a shinning star
Leading the way to my freedom
Leading the way to anything to come

And I will use you
More than you know
Each time I am sad or down
I will be thinking

No need to be around
No need to call on the phone
The thought is good and
the time is long
But love is like a spring
I am lonely sometimes
But I have you
You might be fading away
But I have you.

If yo u follow my Instagram, or any of my social medias or even if you simply know me, you know that I love London. Before I even went there most of my friends told me it was the city which corresponded me most of all.
And I love small reminders of this town in accessory and clothing.

BEAUTY: Body Image

You can be pretty no matter how many pounds you weight....

However, there is one thing for sure: body image is important for our society and the true rule to live by is the one saying that the only person who needs to be please with your appearance is yourself. Being beautiful does have a lot to do with how you feel and how you want to look.
The moment when you are facing the mirror at night or in the morning is a conversation in between your inner and outer self.

I also would add that the way you "feel" is important. If you manage to do things in life and move around at a good pace than you are good. When I say I am going to do more sports and take care of what I am eating, it tends to be when I feel heavier but I don't necessarily look bigger.

As I am writing these words, I know I am going to eat a little less and do more sports. In my case, this tends to settle my body and put me in a good place. The past two months, it got difficult to find a time and place to have a good routine which I used to have from the beginning of the year onwards. It actually corresponded to the time I started yoga.
So let's get back on track.

MUSIC: Imagine by John Lennon

What is there to say here?
If you never heard this song, you need to.
No argument would go against it.

Just like some of Bob Dylan's hymns
(Blowing in The Wind or Knocking on Heaven's Door),
Imagine is an hymn to peace and understanding.

BLOG: There is a light

In my life, there's a light like will never be
That shines on, anything I see
Has no name, no face but I can feel the smile
Of that light, which remembers to always be
There for me in my misery
And I hear the things you say much more clearly.

Give me strength, give me life,
Give me everything to be
I see you there with me
And my mouth is getting happy

When the tears are rolling down my face
That you see only in embrace...
There is the light.
Memory tender of laughs and games
And of truth never to be told...
There's a light.

SELECTION: Accessorize Summer

I love Accessorize and they tend to be a brand I would normally recommend to go for during autumn or winter because they really do well with work oriented clothes and accessory.
However, this summer collection is very nice festival oriented and beach friendly.
A little bit of a bohemian vibe.
This says Woodstock, The Doors and more recently Coachella.
Soft pastels and sailing tints...
You can't go wrong no matter your body shape.

BEAUTY: Jojoba Oil by Crabtree & Evelyn

Jojoba oil is a very rich and renewing product which I often use as a strong masque before going to bed when my skin gets less stretchy and dry.
This is the reason why I thought getting this set.

As usual let's just start by saying that these products have a classic scent of herbs, citrus and woods and by "classic" I mean that it reminds me a little bit of the elder scents and smells which you get from ancient perfume houses and Penhaligon.

This set comes with a body wash, a very nourishing soap and a body lotion.

Nothing exiting to say about the body wash. It foams well and nourishes a little but you will still need to moisturize after your bath or shower unless you also use a shower oil afterwords.

The body lotion is enriched with sweet almond and oat extract to make it as nourishing as it gets for a normal body lotion. To get anything richer, you would have to go for a body butter.

The soap is a triple-milled made with both jojoba oil and shea butter which for a soap makes it non-drying and nourishing.

Though I enjoyed using these products, I won't change my shower and skincare routine for them as they really weren't as nourishing as I thought they could have been.

MOVIE NIGHT! Pulp Fiction

What makes Pulp Fiction a classic?
Awesome lines?

A little bit of all of that.
The story, I wouldn't want to sum up because this movie is being built around a kaleidoscopic effect.
The beginning is not really the end and the end not exactly the beginning.
If you are not very into violence though I think it might be a little bit too gun oriented.
If you don't like crude language much, it might also be wise to pass by this movie too.

If you are not concerned by the recommendations stated above than run and see it.
It is a fun twisted movie telling the stories of many characters not exactly linked to begin with and end up all being within the same storyline anyhow.

And as a comment to this article I would love for you to tell me what you think is in the mallet.

Food In Paris: Chaak

A few years ago, Chipotle arrived in Paris for the first time.
And just like right after Columbus, Strabucks got implanted, Chaak arrived right after Chipotle.
This "fast food" line of restauration proposes a varied choice of tortillas, quesadillas and tacos.

This particular one (above) is very well situated within the Form Des Halles on the way to the cinema. The scent of the food gets all the way to the metro when you arrive.

I personally love chicken quesadillas. My reference is the one from Miguel's Cocina in San Diego. It goes without saying the on from Chaak isn't not of the same level but, if you take in consideration that Chaak is fast food, it is more than decent.

One other tip from me is to ask for no rice
which they tend to put in every type of meal.
Otherwaise enjoy your TexMex.

BLOG: Devotion

When you start having a relationship with anyone, you need to remember it is a two way street whether you are tremendously happy or just feeling complete.
You open yourself and no matter how objective you pretend to be, you tend to loose that objectivity. Then develops a type of devotion from one party for the other. This is one of the reasons why you need a friend or two. If you live your entire existence in between work and your one and only, you will be blinded to your own devotion.

I am not talking about loving less or lowering what you have but simply remember who you are through it all and in stade of defining yourself through others defining yourself for you. It makes more sense but it doesn't mean you lost it yet. The freedom of the other one is essential to the well being of the couple however the couple's actions and going around should not revolve only around one of the members.

The other one would then feel isolated and miserable. No one defines him or herself through the others and if they, at one point, do, then they will come to the conclusion that they never defined themselves for their own self and the fall will be even worse.
Find a balance and talk.

HOME: My Shabby Chic

This trend I already mentioned a certain amount of times and here it is again.
Still for the same reasons, just as cute and comforting as ever. The closer I get to become a kindergarden teacher or a animator, the more in love I am with cute and shabby chic decor and clothes.

FRAGRANCE: Making your "own" perfume (alcohol)

There are many methods around but the one I would recommend is the alcohol one.

Quantities:  20% of essential oils for 80% of alcohol

Add the quantities in a bottle and let it set for 48h.
Add 5% of spring water and let it set again for 24h.
Filter the mixture with a coffee filter and place it
           into your sterilized perfume bottle.
Preferably pick dark and opaque so that you can keep it longer.

MUSIC: Nevermind by Nirvana

The smallest room in the world. Feeling the worst you could ever feel. Smaller and smaller by the second. No matter what the grown ups say, the worst time were my teenage years.
It isn't because it is the actual worst time but because it is the first time you understand you cannot change the world around you but that you have to make yourself stronger for it.
This is when Nirvana arrived in my life and as I wasn't looking for much originality, I loved it. If you never listened to it, in its full length, then you really have been missing out on something.
This deeply rooted passion get awaken again a year ago as I was in Seattle and visited the museum of music there. I didn't go all the way to Aberdeen as it wasn't part of the big plan but the love and emotion was still there.

Listen to Nevermind and embrace the grunge within yourself.
